The Role

Overview

Perform routine and special histology tasks in a CAP‑certified lab.

Tasks

-Meet acceptable turnaround time and productivity standards for the section. -Embed, cut, stain, and perform other tasks required to process tissue in the Immunohistochemistry laboratory. -Perform quality control procedures established for each method and maintain accurate records. -Assist other personnel with identifying and analyzing inconsistent and abnormal results. -Review accuracy and completeness of results prior to releasing in the Laboratory Information System. -Perform accurate gross description on tissue samples. -Operate all instruments/equipment according to accepted written procedures and recognize and identify instrument/equipment problems. -Complete routine and STAT testing within acceptable turnaround time guidelines. -Record, transcribe, and maintain records of patient test results according to protocol. -Recognize testing errors/discrepancies or problems and notify appropriate personnel to assist in problem resolution.

What You Bring

-Histology licensure (ASCP - 720 hours program) OR 4 years' experience. -Meet CLIA personnel standard criteria. -Associate degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or related life science. -Formal training in Histology from an accredited program (720 hours). -Skills in microtomy, grossing, processing, embedding, cutting, and routine special staining techniques. -Associate's Degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or other life science. -State Licensure where applicable (Florida requires licensing). -1-3 years of experience.
