Tasks
-Analyze the quality and effectiveness of the work performed -Conduct and/or attend periodic driver/safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote morale, productivity, and efficiency -Maintain open communication with other departments and leadership to ensure fluid and effective operations -Work utilizing personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety-toed boot, utility gloves, reflective vest, hearing and eye protection, hard hat, etc. -Review and approve expenses that are within approval level; refer larger expenses or major repairs to manager -Maintain knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic and electrical systems to perform advanced preventive and repair maintenance functions on heavy equipment and vehicles used by Company, both on site and on the road -Perform inspections of outside repairs to ensure all work was properly completed in accordance with Company’s safety and compliance procedures and federal/state regulations; follow up where appropriate -Oversee the daily planning and scheduling of all repair work to optimize productivity. Follow up on repairs being made, perform repairs as needed and appraise performance of shop personnel. -Introduce departmental goals and performance objectives established by District and Corporate leadership -Manage related administrative matters for team, including payroll, employee records, records of all preventive and corrective maintenance performed, recording of all information into Company maintenance software -Conduct road test on equipment as necessary -Ensure the cleanliness of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs -Employee is regularly required to talk, hear, listen, sit and stand -Plan and schedule repairs in M5 planner and procure all parts for successful plan. -Supervise, coach, train, evaluate employee performance or behavior; provide input into hiring, disciplinary action, terminations, compensation, and promotion decisions -Conduct daily shop huddles and fleet walks -Track issues and conduct Quality Control Inspections (QCI’s) -Assist in preparation and submittal of budget -Assist with inventory control system to ensure necessary equipment and part levels are maintained and purchases are within budget -Oversee repair diagnostics on more complex matters -Update and submit required reports in a timely manner

What You Bring
-Knowledge of proper lifting techniques -Strong work ethic, demonstrating integrity, trust, and maintain confidentiality -Valid Driver’s License -Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a step stool as necessary -Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions -High School diploma or GED -Microsoft Office experience -Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects -Ability to judge the distance between equipment and an object -Knowledge of welding, compactor repair, air brake inspection, vehicle inspections. -Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles -Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills -Ability to drive a pickup or heavy truck, equipped with a 5-7 speed manual shift transmission or automatic transmission, climbing in and out of the truck cab -Ability to prioritize workload and meet time sensitive deadlines -Full set of hand tools required. -Three (3) or more years of heavy diesel truck maintenance experience -Ability to supervise, coach, counsel, discipline, and train employees -One (1) or more years of lead technician or supervisory experience -Ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example: two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting or standing -Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, team environment -Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and other related state and federal regulations -Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers -Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports and associated documents -Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds as needed and maintain steady work pace -Ability to make simple and repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists -Continuous riding in a vehicle, walking, standing, sitting, climbing, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, grasping/gripping, and pushing/pulling
