Senior Pedestrian Modeller

Wsp

The Role

Overview

Develop & analyze pedestrian simulation models for transit facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • model development
  • model validation
  • dynamic modelling
  • technical reporting
  • client interaction
  • collaboration

Tasks

-Validate, test, and document simulation models to ensure quality, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. -Engage directly with clients to understand requirements, tailor simulation approaches, and provide technical support throughout implementation. -Monitor emerging trends and research in passenger behaviour and modelling techniques to continuously improve methodologies. -Apply both static and dynamic modelling techniques, integrating data-driven insights such as demographics, user preferences, and crowd dynamics to improve accuracy and realism. -Prepare clear technical reports, visualizations, and presentations to communicate modelling results and insights to clients and stakeholders. -Mentor and support junior team members, fostering knowledge-sharing and professional development. -Train and mentor junior staff. -Foster collaboration across WSP within India and globally. -Collaborate with cross-functional teams—such as data scientists, software developers, and project managers—to integrate models into products and project deliverables. -Develop, calibrate, and maintain advanced passenger behaviour simulation models across multiple transportation modes, including rail, bus, air, and urban mobility systems.

Requirements

  • python
  • matlab
  • massmotion
  • vba
  • bachelor's
  • analytical

What You Bring

-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work on complex mathematical models and algorithms. -Familiarity with transportation systems, crowd dynamics, and human factors is highly advantageous. -Knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., MATLAB, R) is a plus. -Strong communication and documentation skills. -Previous experience in performing passenger movement analysis in major transit facilities will be an asset. -Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or Excel with VBA. -Proven experience in developing passenger behavior simulation models within transportation, urban planning, or related industries. -International professional qualification, or eligibility to be registered as such. -Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban/Transportation Planning, Civil/Transportation Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field. -Exposure to international delivery models and remote collaboration. -Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification (“BGV”) check conducted by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India. -Direct experience in both static and dynamic passenger modelling, such as Legion, Viswalk, and MassMotion will be an asset. -Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
