The Role

Overview

Perform and oversee ecological risk assessments and related consulting work

Tasks

-Preparing technical deliverables; including writing reports and performing/reviewing risk assessment calculations. -Performing and reviewing ecological risk assessments in accordance with regulatory guidance and project-specific work plans. -Maintaining work quality, quantity, and efficiency at or above company standards. -Contributing to proposals and business development, including developing scopes of work and cost estimates for ecological risk assessment. -Supporting a wide range of projects for private and government clients throughout the U.S. (and internationally). -Mentoring/developing more junior staff. -Developing Risk Assessment Work Plans and contributing to Sampling and Analysis Plans/Quality Assurance Project Plans. -Maintaining knowledge of federal and state regulations/guidance documents for conducting risk assessments.

What You Bring

-Experience dealing with the Hawaii Department of Health and EPA Region 9 -Experience working on Navy or Department of Defense. -Applied knowledge of USEPA guidance for conducting ecological risk assessment. -CERCLA experience with Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, and ROD development. -Site investigation and field sampling and wildlife assessment experience. -Experience evaluating PFAS, PCBs, and lead. -Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. -Successfully coordinating with internal project teams, including delegating to junior staff. -Experience performing data analysis and applied statistics. -Excellent technical writing and communication skills. -BA/BS degree in Ecotoxicology, Ecology, Zoology, Environmental Science/Studies, Chemistry, Toxicology, Biology or other related area AND 6+ years of experience performing ecological risk assessments in an environmental consulting setting, or demonstrated equivalence of education and experience. -Must be willing to perform occasional field work, as needed. -Experience performing wildlife assessments. -Master’s or PhD degree in Ecotoxicology, Ecology, Zoology, Environmental Science/Studies, Chemistry, Toxicology, Biology, Zoology, or other related area. -Experience conducting food web/bioaccumulation assessments. -Experience working with projects in Hawaii, Guam and other Pacific Islands -Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review and background check. -Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.
