The Role
Overview
Entry-level environmental scientist/geologist for field data collection and site remediation.

Tasks
-Understand and assist with site conceptual models. -Participation in a health and safety team performing inspections, observations, and training. -Conducting environmental field work, including collecting soil, surface water, groundwater, and remediation system data; soil logging; and fluid level gauging. -Field document preparation, field data collection, processing, and interpretation. -Occasionally working in adverse seasonal weather conditions. -Collect and record data and compare results to relevant studies and state and federal regulations to ensure compliance. -Collect and evaluate environmental data in field and office settings. -Oversight of contractors conducting field surveys, drilling, well installation, development operations, and utility clearance for intrusive operations, and underground storage tank removal. -Prepare investigation reports and drawings. -Supporting office tasks, including data entry, data analysis, report preparation, and maintenance of a records archive system. -Travel to project locations including driving and overnight stays. -Frequently moving across a variety of uneven terrains such as mud, rock, grass, dirt, and other unpaved terrains to conduct field work.

What You Bring
-Candidate must be proficient with basic computer programs; MS Word and MS Excel. -Ability to demonstrate a primary technical role in multiple site characterization, subsurface investigation and remediation projects at various client sites. -Ability to understand and supervise advancement of soil borings and installation of monitoring wells. -Selected candidate will be required to complete 40-hour HAZWOPER training or annual refresher class, if needed. -Learn and develop a keen understanding of hazard recognition; and environmental investigation or remediation. -Independent field work and leadership of field teams. -As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review. -Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. -Possesses technical report writing skills. -This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes office work in Raleigh, North Carolina . The selected candidate must be available to work in Raleigh, North Carolina on a scheduled basis. -Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is required. -Candidate will submit to medical surveillance screening upon hire. -Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or Geology. -Ability to travel up to 60-80% for fieldwork. Ability to travel out-of-State to complete field work. This position is based in Raleigh, North Carolina and will require some overnight travel.
