Lead civil engineering projects for dams, levees, and water resources.

Tasks

-Mentor and train future leaders, including development of succession plans for key positions. -Assist with business development activities including the preparation of budgets and scopes of work. -Develop design drawings and specifications for various levels of design (e.g. 30%, 60%, 90%, 100% design). -Lead by example with active support of internal policies and practices, including health & safety, risk management, project management, and quality management. -Participate in professional development and training activities. -Work in conjunction with engineers, geologists, and scientists to solve project challenges, leading design tasks and overseeing design calculations as required. -Assist with cost estimating. -Select criteria for planning, design, and construction of dams, foundations, tunnels, slopes, and related structures. -Manage projects and tasks with the assistance of 1 to 10 engineers. -Assist with feasibility studies by conducting research to assess challenges and develop solutions. -Oversee Construction Quality Assurance including the review of shop drawings and submittals, response to request for information, prepare site observation reports, and perform other contract administration tasks. -Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines for planning and executing work in a safe manner. -Promote collaboration and teamwork across business lines and geographies. -Mentoring, coaching, and training of lessexperienced professionals, as required -Grow internal and external networks to further enhance Stantec reputation and identify additional talent to join our team. -Lead technical teams, perform technical work, make technical presentations, plan technical portions of projects, develop technical portions of proposals, and provide technical review of work products. -Develop familiarity with regulatory agency requirements, technical design standards, and industry standards and guidelines.

What You Bring

-Excellent writing and verbal communication skills with attention to detail; time management skills. -Willing and able to travel as needed for site work that may include inspections, construction quality assurance, and other field work related tasks; both nationally and internationally. -Working knowledge of the principles of civil engineering. -Existing professional registration (PE) or ability to obtain within 36 months of starting work. -10 to 14 years' work experience in civil engineering. Dams and/or levees experience required. -Valid driver's license -Familiarity with computer aided design drafting programs -Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software. -Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university; Master’s preferred.
