Overview
Lead design and delivery of highway projects, ensuring safety, quality and client goals.

Tasks
-Work collaboratively with our client to ensure clear scheme scope and objectives, responsibilities defined and change control managed. -Support the technical design lead in managing the design team, including line management, training and mentoring, cover during periods of absence, recruitment etc. -Take a lead on project delivery, coordinating the work of junior team members and providing feedback. -Ensure that relevant standards are applied in accordance with national & local criteria and sound engineering practice, to deliver appropriate solutions which offer best value. -Ensure a consistent quality of work in the design of schemes, ensuring compliance with Milestone and contract Integrated Management System processes. -Work closely with project managers and other local teams to plan and implement highway schemes within budget and to programme, and in compliance with quality, safety and environmental objectives. -Supporting the development of staff within the team through line management and mentoring

What You Bring
-Experience in designing/assessing surface water drainage systems using Micro Drainage software (or similar) (desirable) -Site based highways experience to provide sufficient understanding of buildability, traffic management and construction programming. (desirable). -Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers or equivalent professional qualification. -Good working knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges/Specification for Highway Works and other relevant design standards relating to the design and maintenance of local authority highway and transport schemes. -A relevant Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, or Foundation Degree/HNC/HND together with sufficient post qualification experience. -Experience of working on traffic engineering & sustainable transport projects (desirable). -Proficient in using AutoCAD (essential) & Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite (desirable). -Working knowledge of the design & delivery of highway infrastructure projects using BIM/Digital Engineering software, systems and data. -Good commercial awareness in relation to the delivery of projects.
