Advises and ensures health & safety compliance for repairs and maintenance teams.

Tasks
-Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the repairs and maintenance team, management, and external contractors to promote a proactive health and safety culture. -Risk Assessment & Management: Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS) to identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend control measures. Monitor the implementation of these measures. -Reporting: Provide the necessary reporting and present on all Health and Safety related activity to task groups, committees, boards as required. -Accident Investigation: Lead investigations of incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring accurate reporting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions. -Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all repairs, maintenance, and associated activities are conducted in compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. -Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on health and safety legislation, industry developments, and best practices. Make recommendations for continuous improvement of health and safety standards and practices. -Policy Development & Review: Assist in the development, review, and continuous improvement of health and safety policies, procedures, and protocols tailored to the housing repairs and maintenance environment. -Audit & Reporting: Conduct internal audits, site inspections, and compliance checks. Prepare and present reports on health and safety performance, including key metrics and trends. -Training & Awareness: Provide health and safety training, toolbox talks, and safety briefings to employees and contractors, ensuring awareness and understanding of health and safety responsibilities.

What You Bring
-Working knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM). -Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to train and influence staff at all levels. -Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. -NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent qualification). -Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a health and safety role, preferably within the social housing or construction/maintenance sectors. -Ability to influence and work collaboratively with diverse teams. -Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with health and safety management software. -Membership with a recognized health and safety body (e.g., IOSH or equivalent) is desirable. -Experience in developing and implementing health and safety management systems and risk assessments. -Ability to identify risks, prioritize safety initiatives, and drive a culture of safety. -Self-motivated with a proactive approach to safety management. -Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
