Tasks

-Assist in the development of supervision training programs to ensure future leaders are trained. -Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment -Serve as senior technical advisor to all project or business unit supervision to assist in difficult start-up, construction or close out problems. -Participate in and/or lead project means and method planning, being a catalyst to drive creative thinking and innovative ideas that distinguishes a successful operation, developing and utilizing Work Plans to execute the results of the planning. -Comply, understand, and support corporate safety, quality and environmental initiatives to ensure a safe work environment. -Create and promote, in his/her organization, the ability to recognize and understand the appropriate environmental policies, rules, and the potential adverse effects to the environment due to operations, and take steps necessary to comply with policy/rules, and mitigate the effects of operations -Create and/or foster a quality culture that recognizes the effect of quality on all operations, and takes steps necessary to provide a product or service that is a source of pride for our workers, and pleasing to our customers -Interface with all work teams in business unit (including subcontractors) as required, to resolve problems, ensure quality, safety, scheduling and achieving schedules in support of overall project objectives. -Mentor construction craft, supervision and engineering staff to ensure individual development and Granite standards are met. -Oversee total project or business unit supervision effort to ensure appropriate personnel, budget and schedule are met. -Provide expertise and technical knowledge to Region department heads to make sure Region strategic objectives are met. -Assist with jurisdictional disputes and negotiations as required on union projects to ensure project timelines are met. -Administer all company, department, technical policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance. -Authorize/approve all supervision personnel transactions (hiring, transfer, wages, etc.), in conjunction with appropriate project managers to ensure proper staffing. -Comprehend and administer a safety program that provides for a safe work environment that meets or exceeds Granite’s Annual Incident Goal, and foster a culture that expects participation at all levels

What You Bring

-Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory and planning skills required. -Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods); company policies, procedures and standards; and union jurisdiction, labor agreements, negotiations essential. -Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record -Completion and certification of USACE’s 24-Hour EM 385-1-1 training and completed in the last five (5) years. -Ability and willingness to abide by Granite’s Code of Conduct on a daily basis -20+ years supervisory or equivalent construction experience. -Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, etc.) -BS degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent work experience in heavy civil construction. -Experience on at least two heavy civil design-build projects within the last 15 years, having a construction value of $10- million or more for each project. -Excellent management skills
