Tasks

As a Leakage Inspector, you will carry out leak detection and investigation activities on the Water Network to locate and promote leakage to be repaired by our service partners. You will demonstrate the ability to work hard as part of a wider team, solve problems and be thorough to deliver sustainable leakage reduction for Yorkshire Water. This will enable Yorkshire Water to hit challenging Leakage reduction targets. DMA Leakage Inspectors are responsible for proactively investigating 'Distribution Monitored Areas' using acoustic detection equipment to identify, pinpoint and promote leaks on our distribution network to our service partners for repair. If you have a passion for solving problems, working outdoors (and working at night), understanding how the clean water network operates, dealing with customers and utilising the latest detection technologies, then this role may be for you. -Create and maintain strong relationships with Field and service partner personnel to help support with leakage reduction and ensure jobs are resolved -Use correlating loggers (Enigma and Sound Sens) and be able to successfully interpret the information they provide -Designing and implementing step tests -Effectively quantify and validate leakage -Validate and quantify all work promoted to service partners to ensure optimal leakage reduction -Take responsibility for own health and safety and the health and safety of others through leadership by example and reporting through corporate systems -Leak detection utilising fixed and lift and shift acoustic loggers -Use Netbase (Latis Lite) to understand DMA day/night usage patterns, potential leaks and reductions due to repairs -Account for usage to eliminate non leakage from the leakage reporting process -Take ownership of private leakage jobs and manage them through to resolution -Risk assessments to ensure all activities are safe and delivered with minimal customer impact -Use leak sound correlation equipment, including the ability to use filters, carry out velocity checks and use hydrophones -Effectively and proactively investigate DMAs issued, locate and promote leakage which contributes to the reduction in area leakage levels

What You Bring

If successful for the role, you will be required to undergo pre-employment checks that will include a Basic Disclosure Check, carried out through a Third-Party Company, prior to commencing employment. Depending on the role, you may also be required to go through the security vetting process for either a Counter Terrorist Check or Security Check clearance. Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week. Important Note: You'll be required to work a minimum of 3 nights in a 4-week period. You will learn or be experienced in a variety of leakage detection techniques such as sounding, correlating, step testing and utilising new leakage technologies, as well as how to differentiate usage from leakage and other network sounds. You'll be expected to carry out dynamic risk assessments and POWRA's to ensure all activities are safe and delivered with minimal customer impact and develop an understanding and capability of available corporate systems. We have an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Leakage Inspector to join the Water Distribution team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.
