The Role

Overview

Maintain and repair water and wastewater systems across multiple Arizona locations.

Tasks

-Repair and maintain fire hydrants, main line valves, water service lines, water mains, water meters and fittings. -Provide assistance to Field Service Representative, meter reading, and line locating when needed to backfill due to absences. -Perform preventative maintenance activities, e.g., valve exercising and fire hydrant inspections. -Install, maintain, and repair wastewater collection systems including sewer laterals, mains, taps, main cleaning and clearing blockages, roach control, and raises/lowers/repairs of manholes. -Install new water services, conduct water system flushing, water quality sampling, flow testing, and traffic control.

-Flexibility to work independently and respond to callouts, overtime, weekends, and holiday emergencies. -To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required. -If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational, and/or credit) and professional reference checks is required. Some EPCOR positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment. -Utility Worker II: Class A CDL License required with Tanker & Hazmat endorsements or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date. Two (2) years qualifying work experience in water distribution and wastewater collection field. ADEQ Grade 2 Water Distribution and Grade 2 Wastewater Collection certifications required or have the ability to obtain within one year of hire date. -Utility Worker I: Class A CDL License required with Tanker & Hazmat endorsements or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date. One (1) year of qualifying work experience in water distribution and wastewater collection field. Class ADEQ Grade 1 Water Distribution and Grade 1 Wastewater Collection certifications required or have the ability to obtain within one year of hire date. -Utility Worker-in-Training: Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license with good driving record at time of hire. Class A CDL License required with Tanker & Hazmat endorsements or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date. Must be able to obtain Grade 1 ADEQ certifications in Water Distribution and Wastewater Collections within one year of hire date. -Familiarity with drinking water rules and regulations; ability to perform standardized water quality tests. -Ability to read and interpret blueprints, service orders, maintenance manuals, meters, and charts. -Strong physical capability to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting up to 70 lbs., working in confined spaces, and tolerating extreme weather conditions. -Applicants must be at least 18 years old and legally entitled to work in United States. Background checks and assessments may be required. -Basic computer literacy required; ability to complete service orders and reports accurately using Microsoft Word, Excel, and customer information systems. -Utility Worker III: Four (4) years qualifying work experience in water distribution and wastewater collection field. ADEQ Grade 3 Water Distribution and Grade 3 Wastewater Collection certifications required. -Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with internal and external customers. -High school diploma or equivalent, and a valid Arizona driver’s license with a good driving record. -Knowledge of water distribution and wastewater collection systems, including related tools, equipment, and safety procedures. -Ability to operate motor vehicles and utility equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, valve exercisers, and mini-vactor units.
