The Role

Overview

Manage and oversee plumbing construction projects, budgets, schedules, and safety.

Tasks

-Provide forecasts to the customer and participate in forecast/budget meetings as required. -Run reports on projects, tracking cost and billing. -Break down units and complete take-offs. -Manage the requisition of supplies and materials to complete project. -Represent company in project meetings and attend strategy meetings. -Collaborate with the Superintendent as well as other departments in the acquisition of tooling, materials, equipment, etc. to complete the project. -Perform accurate estimates. -Negotiate and approve subcontract scope changes in accordance with all customer contract requirements (i.e. the prime contract conditions which flow though the subcontract). -Participate in department meetings as requested. -Maintain open communication with the customer and discuss potential future projects. -Work with engineers to produce shop drawings from architectural drawings. -Develop and distribute subcontractor RFPs based on scope of work and develop bid schedule. -Work with Superintendents, Foremen, Journeymen, Project Managers and Department Managers to plan, organize and direct activities concerned with projects. -Collaborate with the Superintendent to review and approve subcontractor schedules. -Furnish information to the Contract Administrator to complete subcontract agreements including scope of work, pricing, and customer-specific requirements. -Communicate with customer/contractor during the project. -Develop RFP deliverables for a complete bid package including safety plans, execution plans, quality plans, environmental plans, and other plans as required by the customer. -Collaborate with the Superintendent and Safety personnel to develop project-specific safety plans. -Develop project schedules in collaboration with the Superintendent and in compliance with customer requirements, deadlines, and/or milestones; develop mechanisms to track schedule progress in the field; and update the schedule regularly. -Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of company policy and contract specifications. Confer with supervisors and union personnel to discuss such matters as work procedures, complaints and problems. -Collaborate with the Superintendent to identify any variances from the baseline and determine appropriate course of action to remedy any schedule slippage. -Develop project budget based on the estimate/proposal including the budget breakdown by task and appropriate tracking units and develop cost codes for tasks/units. -Review subcontractor proposals for completeness and scope coverage. -Manage divisional Work in Progress (WIP) statistics and report on WIP statistics at monthly financial meetings. -Prepare and distribute completed RFPs for subcontractors. -Inform office staff when necessary to order bonds, permits or certifications when needed for a project. -Communicate the company's core value of safety and project-specific safety requirements, goals, and objectives. -Formulate reports concerning such areas as work progress, costs and scheduling. -Manage projects to ensure the budgets established are met and ensure products are manufactured to customer specifications. -Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers and clients.

What You Bring

-Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills. -Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field preferred. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills. -High School Diploma or equivalent is required. -Minimum 5 years of project management experience or related experience. -Must be organized and able to prioritize tasks. -Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications. -Ability to adapt to changing priorities. -Must be able to handle confidential information. -Must have knowledge of the appropriate codes and standards which govern design and operating requirements.
