Tasks
You’ll join a team that specialises in sustainable drainage, earthworks assessments, highways and development infrastructure, working collaboratively with our Transport Planning, Flood Risk, Air Quality and Acoustics colleagues to deliver joined-up, sustainable solutions for our clients. Carrying out due diligence reviews to support land purchases. Preparing design drawings, calculations and technical reports that meet industry standards and quality assurance processes. In this role you’ll work within the Edinburgh team, alongside our Infrastructure teams across the company to help deliver a wide range of exciting projects. Preparing levels strategies and earthworks appraisals. Securing technical approvals for highways and drainage infrastructure. Supporting senior staff and colleagues with technical design tasks, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard, on time and within budget. Developing concept and detailed sustainable drainage strategies. Producing planning support documents (Surface Water Management plans, technical design notes).

What You Bring
Please note that you must have a UK visa and right to work in the UK. Understanding of the planning and technical approvals process, from feasibility to detailed design. Proficiency in Causeway Flow/MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage and AutoCAD is essential; familiarity with Civil 3D and/or Site 3D is preferred. Good technical knowledge and familiarity with guidance and regulations (Sewer Sector Guidance, Building Regulations, DMRB, CIRIA C753). Chartered or working towards Chartership with a relevant institution (ICE, CIWEM, CIOB). We’re seeking a proactive and collaborative engineer who thrives on solving problems and enjoys working as part of a supportive team. You’ll have a strong understanding of civil engineering design, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to liaise with contractors and stakeholders. You will be based in our Edinburgh office located at 4-5 Lochside Way, Edinburgh Park. 3-5 years post-qualification experience in the industry. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. HNC, HND or degree in Civil Engineering. Experience producing Drainage Impact Assessments and/or Surface Water Management Plans to support planning submissions. Excellent Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, including CDM 2015.
