  • Install and assemble HV substation steelwork, disconnectors, circuit breakers, CTs, earth switches, and mechanical plant
  • Assist electrical teams with switchgear and transformer integration
  • Support commissioning by ensuring mechanical readiness
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with Electricity Safety Rules, HSE policies, CDM, LOLER, and PUWER regulations.
  • Work from drawings, method statements, and manufacturer instructions
  • Align and torque components to spec using calibrated tools
  • Conduct inspections to meet NGTS and project quality standards

  • Competent in the installation of heavy mechanical equipment and structural components
  • Fit busbars, support structures, cable trays, and earthing systems, including earth rods and exothermic welds
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical and civil drawings
  • Full UK driving license - willingness to travel across sites
  • EUSR National Grid Person & BESC (substations) accreditation - desirable
  • Recognised mechanical apprenticeship or NVQ L3 in Mechanical Engineering / Fitting / Maintenance (people with relevant experience in the field will also be considered)
  • IPAF 3a & 3b Qualifications
  • Experience working on National Grid transmission or HV substation projects (typically 132kV, 275kV, 400kV) - desirable
  • Current CSCS or CCNSG Safety Passport
