Install and assemble HV substation steelwork, disconnectors, circuit breakers, CTs, earth switches, and mechanical plant
Assist electrical teams with switchgear and transformer integration
Support commissioning by ensuring mechanical readiness
Maintain accurate records and comply with Electricity Safety Rules, HSE policies, CDM, LOLER, and PUWER regulations.
Work from drawings, method statements, and manufacturer instructions
Align and torque components to spec using calibrated tools
Conduct inspections to meet NGTS and project quality standards

Competent in the installation of heavy mechanical equipment and structural components
Fit busbars, support structures, cable trays, and earthing systems, including earth rods and exothermic welds
Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical and civil drawings
Full UK driving license - willingness to travel across sites
EUSR National Grid Person & BESC (substations) accreditation - desirable
Recognised mechanical apprenticeship or NVQ L3 in Mechanical Engineering / Fitting / Maintenance (people with relevant experience in the field will also be considered)
IPAF 3a & 3b Qualifications
Experience working on National Grid transmission or HV substation projects (typically 132kV, 275kV, 400kV) - desirable
Current CSCS or CCNSG Safety Passport
