The Role
Overview
Provides education, IPC oversight and quality improvement for staff and residents

Tasks
-Monitoring critical infection control indicators (examples may include hand hygiene rates, influenza, and COVID-19 vaccination rates) -Coordinates, plans, implements, and evaluates the orientation program for new employees. -Maintains a positive liaison with community partners and resource agencies. -Maintains current clinical competence and knowledge through best practice. Meets all legislated, provincial and accreditation standards. -Work to prevent and control outbreaks of infection by: -Develops, presents, and evaluates in-services and other educational programs as required. -Facilitating the implementation and evaluation of Park Place infection prevention and control policies, guidelines, processes and measures. -Collecting and analyzing infection control data through quality improvement audits -Contributes to quality of care and safety assurance and improvement by participating in Park Place site committees (e.g., Leadership Team, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Medical Advisory Committee). -Responsible to ensure all employees read, understand, and comply with Park Place policy -Takes the lead as Infection Prevention and Control designate, -Providing consultation on infection risk, prevention and control strategies -Collaborates with other leaders of the interdisciplinary team to ensure effective, consistent, and comprehensive new employee orientation has been concluded in a timeframe conducive to optimal job performance. -Participates and/or takes a lead in quality improvement/performance measurement initiatives and processes.

What You Bring
-Demonstrates applicable computer skills and knowledge of nursing-related care equipment utilization and management. -Baccalaureate of Nursing with Gerontology content or post basic course in Gerontology or three (3) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. -Ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing. -Ability to intervene effectively, to resolve conflict, manage stress, and work pressure. -Applies problem-solving process demonstrating critical thinking and decision-making skills with systems analysis. -A background in teaching or facilitating classroom training is essential. -Demonstrates the ability to effectively introduce and manage purposeful change that is consistent with PPSL’s vision, mission and strategic directions. -Ability to apply continuous quality improvement tools and processes within a dynamic environment, leading to improved care and service delivery. -Demonstrates ability to effectively establish professional working relationships with members of the care team as well as residents and their families aiming for excellence in residents’ care. -Current practicing registration with the applicable provincial registering body.
