Tasks

-Conduct legal research and compile case law or background materials as required -Assist in corporate matters such as incorporations, annual resolutions, minute books, and corporate filings -Draft, review, and format legal documents, correspondence, and contracts (letters, pleadings, resolutions, corporate forms, real estate documents, etc.) -Prepare court documents and assist with filing and service of proceedings in accordance with Quebec and federal court rules -Prepare invoices, track billable hours, and assist with client billing and collections -Perform general office duties such as scanning, filing, and maintaining internal databases -Support real estate transactions: draft preliminary documentation, review title searches, prepare closing documents, and coordinate closings -Communicate with clients, notaries, opposing counsel, and court personnel professionally and efficiently -Maintain calendars, deadlines, and limitation dates for multiple files -Manage and organize physical and electronic client files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality

What You Bring

-Ability to work independently and as part of a small, close-knit team -Diploma in Paralegal Studies or Legal Assistant certification from a recognized institution -Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously -Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a law firm, ideally in a small or boutique office environment -Exposure to varied legal areas and hands-on experience -Strong command of English (spoken and written); functional French (ability to communicate and understand documents) -Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with legal practice management software is an asset (e.g., Clio, JurisÉvolution, CosmoLex, etc.) -Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor with clients and colleagues
