Overview

Fit and align metal parts, inspect tack-welds per blueprints for barge manufacturing.

Tasks

-Follow all safety rules and practices -Identify parts for assembly in proper order -May operate overhead cranes -May be involved in safety committees or initiatives -Cut and wash with torch (Oxy Fuel)

What You Bring

-Basic knowledge of blueprints, diagrams, or other specification documents -Willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed -All fitters have to pass a tackers test; six-part practical test using an oxy-fuel cutting torch -Basic fitting skills -Must be able to climb ladders or stairs to reach objects; comfortable with heights. -Read blueprints or other specifications -Ability to perform basic math calculations using fractions; carpentry math -May require extensive kneeling, bending, walking and/or standing for long periods of time -Minimum of 1 year of experience -May require working in narrow or confined work spaces for extended periods of time
