Tasks
-Represents the Superintendent at meetings, seminars and other functional responsibilities as necessary. -Directs the electronic/electro-mechanical maintenance and material control activities of the Section. -Discusses complaints and grievances with employees or their representatives, attempting to resolve complaints in accordance with sound employee relations practices and operating requirements. -Establishes training programs for new employees and evaluates progress and performance. -Assists in the preparation of and presents oral/written reports/recommendations relative to personnel requirements, training needs, and equipment evaluation. -Prepares work schedules and makes assignments to supervisors. -Evaluates recommendations for the purchase of supplies and special tools necessary for efficient operation. -Develops scopes of work (SOWs) for intermediate-level and depot-level training objectives for inclusion in Requests for Proposal for new systems. Develops SOWs for work to be performed by third-party vendors. -Assists in the investigations of equipment component, subsystem and system failures, and personal injury accidents, determines root causes and initiates corrective action. -Supervises the modification of equipment, based on pre-engineered technical data, and oversees personnel during the performance of component renovation/installation work, to include the calibration, modification, repair, and overhaul of precision measuring equipment. -Conducts frequent inspections of repair activities to observe and ensure the adequacy of maintenance practices, personnel qualifications, training requirements and troubleshooting procedures. Inspects work areas to ensure a high level of cleanliness and order exists and that storage and the preservation of assets are maintained. -Recommends backlogged work to be performed by third-party vendors within current authorized budget. -Maintains and promotes awareness and accountability with safety policies and procedures while performing job functions. Promotes a positive safety culture and encourages reporting of safety concerns consistent with our Agency Safety Plan, other regulatory requirements within the Safety Management System and just culture principles. -Review of a current motor vehicle report -Periodically performs the duties of the Superintendent in their absence. -Assists in the preparation of budgetary forecasts for SAMS activities, analyzes labor report summaries and formulates time and performance standards. -Evaluates and discusses performance of personnel, recommending laudatory or disciplinary action as appropriate and equitable. -Prioritizes repair efforts to eliminate emergency and storeroom backorder requests. -Enforces safety policies and maintenance procedures. Develops and advises proper work methods and techniques. -Verification of education and experience (including certifications and licenses) -Assists in the preparation of annual operational plans and programs in support of asset repair programs, including appropriate budgetary needs. -Evaluates and makes recommendations for modifications to the SAMS on-the-job training (OJT) program.

What You Bring
-ISCET Journeyman in one of the following disciplines, communications, computer, Medical, or Radar. -IPC J-STD-001 certification for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies. -Criminal Background Check (a criminal conviction is not an automatic bar to employment) -Four (4) years of experience in the assembly, repair, modification, inspection, calibration and certification of electronic/electromechanical equipment, to include: -Medical examination including a drug and alcohol screening (for safety sensitive positions) -A valid motor vehicle operators permit -In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, four (4) years of assembly, repair, modification, inspection, and calibration of electronic/electromechanical equipment experience, in addition to the minimum experience below, will be considered. -Works variable hours and shifts. -A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory and administrative experience overseeing complex repair activities and maintenance related material control functions -Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or a related field. -Skills and/or behavioral assessment -IPC-7711B/7721B certification for rework of Electronic Assemblies/Repair and Modification of Printed Boards and Electronic Assemblies.
