The Role

Overview

Handle shipping/receiving duties and build custom pallets/crates for freight elevator products.

Tasks

-Prepare, package, and stage outbound shipments in accordance with customer schedules and specifications. -Load and unload trucks using forklifts and pallet jacks. -Operate radial arm saws, circular saws, pneumatic nailers, and other woodworking tools to build durable packaging. -Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments. -Work closely with production and office staff to prioritize and coordinate shipments. -Read drawings or specifications to determine crate sizes and materials needed. -Build custom wooden pallets and crates to safely package Courion freight elevator equipment for shipment. -Monitor supplies of shipping materials, wood stock, and fasteners; notify supervisor when replenishment is needed. -Inspect all crates for safety, strength, and dimensional accuracy before use. -Verify incoming materials against packing lists and purchase orders. -Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of debris. -Follow all safety procedures, including the use of PPE and proper lifting techniques. -Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing efforts to streamline warehouse operations.

What You Bring

-Experience building wood pallets, crates, or custom packaging preferred. -Experience in shipping & receiving or warehouse operations in a manufacturing environment preferred. -Technical or vocational training in shipping, logistics, or woodworking preferred but not required. -Ability to safely operate power tools including radial arm saws, circular saws, pneumatic nailers, and air guns. -Reliable and self-motivated with a sense of ownership over work quality. -High school diploma or equivalent required. -Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with production and office staff. -Skilled in the use of measuring tools and capable of reading basic shop drawings for crate dimensions. -Strong attention to detail and time management skills. -Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with OSHA standards. -Team-oriented mindset with a focus on customer satisfaction and on-time delivery. -Proficient with standard shipping functions, including packing, labeling, documentation, and scheduling freight carriers. -Experience operating forklifts and material handling equipment preferred.
