Engineering Technician (Geotechnical/Construction Quality Assurance)

Overview

Conduct field testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt, ensuring construction quality.

Tasks

-Performs In-Place Density Tests using nuclear density gauge, drive sleeve, or sand cone method. -Also may perform asphalt sampling, backscatter tests, and coring. -Will train employees without work experience; but prefer that candidates have at least some construction-related work history. -Aggregate Sampling. Concrete/Grout/Masonry sampling (including: air content; slump testing; visual observations; casting samples of concrete cylinders, mortar cubes, and grout prisms; and obtaining core samples).

What You Bring

-Must have the ability to see, smell, hear, talk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel and twist, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, sit, stand, and walk. -Strong work ethics -Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 10 hours a day on occasion. -Ability to work as a team player. -This position will be subject to outside environmental conditions, including weather conditions such as wet and /or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environments. -Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally. -Qualified candidates should have basic math and writing skills. -Work will primarily be in the field involving long-term standing and frequent walking as well as include common hazards at construction and project sites.
