The Role
Overview
Lead design of electric distribution projects, supervise team, ensure on-time/budget.

Tasks
Use computer-aided drafting tools such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, CADWorx, MicroStation, AutoCAD Inventor, Bentley Substation, and Solidworks, as well as technical handbooks, utilitystandards, tables, and calculators to create relevant drawings and 3D models of facilities. Prepare technical papers for submittal to regional/national publications. Edit master specification sections to be project specific. Manage the applicable drafting and design resources within a given project. May serve as a field engineer during constructio Divide and assign work to project team’s designers that report to incumbent. Manage and maintain design records and files & complete as-built drawings. Organize and maintain project files. Assign duties and schedules to team members, responsible for all phases of a project. Make major design recommendations as part of a project team, and participate in client presentations. Attend construction progress meetings to solve non-routine technical issues and producereports. Work in conjunction with PM to assist with schedule and financial management. Incorporate design concepts from schematic design into design development and work with project team to produce construction documents. Develop details as required for a specific project. Responsible for maintaining QA/QC of projects. Produce sketches and system schematics for complicated design tasks such as layout of mechanical or electrical equipment rooms. What You Bring
Must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of both OH and UG construction, poles, conduits, substructures, cable and wire types, and connections. Experience with PLS-CADD or O-Calc overhead design software is strongly preferred for electric distribution roles 12+ years of AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D experience At least 7 years of experience in the design of electric distribution projects in both overhead and underground configurations. Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Architectural or Design Technologies, Mechanical or Electrical Technology or relevant field, or equivalent training and experience. Some knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project. (Preferred). Minimal travel to client sites as needed (expected to be no more than 10% of time). Background as an electrical designer or planner with SDG&E or other comparable large electric utility. The pay range for this California position is $58.00- $75.00 per hour; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
