The Role

Overview

Oversee and enforce health, safety, and environment standards on night‑shift construction projects.

Tasks

-Monitors and audits trade partner HSE performance. -Participates in on-site investigative processes and provides recommendations for and evaluating corrective actions taken. -Identifies, evaluates, develops and delivers project specific HSE training and assists with the development of district specific training. -Leads project HSE inspections and monitors the quality and effectiveness of inspections and trade safety plans. -Develops and maintains positive relationships with all stakeholders. -Implements district HSE communication strategies on projects. -Works with project teams to provide recommendations regarding corrective actions of systemic issues. -Supervises, coaches, trains and mentors HSE Coordinators and other employees. -Builds processes, evaluates, and advises on hazard identification. -Develops and evaluates efficiency of the project emergency response plan, site-specific security requirements and the environmental plan. -Implements and supports project HSE plans, regulatory requirements, and other safe work practices.

What You Bring

-Strong working knowledge of construction processes and terminology. -Holds safety designation. -Strong working knowledge of applicable OH&S and environmental legislation and HSE processes. -Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills. -7 years’ experience in a health and safety role in a related industry. 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role is an asset. -Ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships. -Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field. -Conflict resolution skills, with the ability to problem-solve. -Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
