Overview
Design, select, and sustain HVAC components, ensuring compliance and supporting production.

Tasks
-Creates new designs to support customer specials and develops the specifications for each new component -Tests and troubleshoots designs products to ensure they are functioning properly and are safe for use -Provides design guidance and oversight to assigned mechanical designers for specific projects enabling them to release optimized designs -Reviews Mechanical CAD modeling and simulations -Prepares product documentation, operating instructions, and reviews related technical literature -Work is performed in a climate-controlled office setting -Maintains and builds professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, or participating in professional societies -Reviews product specifications for designs and makes design recommendations -Collaborates with designers and engineers to ensure that the product designs integrate seamlessly with other systems -Develops new or modifies current equipment selections -Produce software change requests for selection tool and test the results -Coordinates with engineering and others to deviate/approve part shortages -Develops bill of materials (BOM) and translation documents related to new or changed designs -Stays up to date with local and national design codes and regulations to ensure that designs meet safety standards including but not limited to UL, CE, NEC, IBC, and NFPA -Works with engineering and operations to implement engineering change notices (ECN) -Creates cost estimates for the special request including cost of material and labor. -Collaborate with the Product Design Engineering team to develop designs -Provides support to production team to facilitate seamless product and feature releases -Supports DFMEAs, PFMEAs, CFD, FEA, and seismic evaluations and testing

What You Bring
-Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering -Ability to lead projects, including conceptual designs, make design recommendations, and mentor junior Design Engineers -Creativity and innovation to implement new ideas and technologies -Demonstrates strong multi-tasking capabilities and organizational skills -Understands safety standards including but not limited to UL, CE, NEC, IBC, and NFPA -Excellent written and verbal communication skills -Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time -Demonstrates strong Mechanical Engineering and design skills -Frequent exposure to manufacturing facilities with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposuref -Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology and 5 years’ industry experience -Work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment -Ability to work in conditions below 32 degrees or above 90 degrees on occasion -Strong analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills -Associate’s degree and 10 years’ industry experience -Travels, when necessary, in support of business needs
