Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
Performs services on Locomotives, Railcars and equipment such as sanding, cleaning, washing, scraping, fueling locomotives and supporting shop equipment.
Maintain shop/yard cleanliness.
Regularly ascend and descend a 10 step ladder with up to 25 pounds. Frequently climb on/off equipment.
Regularly ascend/descend a step with a height of 28 inches from the floor.
Empties waste retention system, trash receptacles and properly disposes of hazardous waste material in accordance with FRA/FDA standards and guidelines.
Regularly grasp/squeeze equipment or tools with a force up to 40 pounds.
Maintain proper care and use of materials, equipment, machines and hand tools normally associated with assigned job.
Performs shop maintenance and functions as motor equipment operator.
Responsible for maintenance and servicing of Caltrain’ s Locomotives, Railcars and facilities in accordance with FRA and FDA standards and guidelines.
Regularly push/pull a force up to 25 pounds for up to eight minutes continuously.
Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.

Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
Regularly lift up to 50 pounds of weight, up to an end height of 48 inches for a distance of up to 10 feet.
Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
Experience in manual labor.
Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
Regularly kneel, bend, squat for extended periods of time.
Ability to read, write and communicate proficiently.
Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
Some computer skills preferred.
Regularly carry weight up to 16 pounds for a distance of up to 100 feet.
Regularly lift up to 75 pounds of weight, up to an end height of 36 inches for a distance of up to 10 feet.

High School diploma or equivalent.
Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to 1 mile.
Available to work a 40 hour work week subject to overtime, on call and alternate shifts that may include weeknights, weekends and holidays.
Must successfully complete training and attain/retain certifications applicable to job.
Experience operating cranes, power tools and hydraulic chain/sling rigging equipment preferred.
