Overview

Conduct power system studies and transmission planning for renewable generation and large load interconnections.

Tasks

-Perform Short Circuit studies in ASPEN -Perform electrical System Impact Studies such as Steady State, Dynamic and Transient Stability analyses for generation, large load interconnections in PSS/E -Perform Voltage ride through (VRT) tests, dynamic model quality tests, model benchmarking -Timely completion of projects assigned while meeting project quality and project budget -Produce and/or review technical reports and presentations for external Customers -Develop or modify automation scripts to enhance the efficiency, speed and accuracy of technical simulations -Perform transmission planning & compliance assessments for bulk electric power system in PSS/E -Contribute to the team’s research and innovation activities in terms of development of new techniques and/or analytical tools to further the team’s performance in terms of efficiency and/or capability improvements -Cultivate customer relationships, technical advisory support for generations, and large load interconnections connecting to transmission system -Stay up to date with relevant NERC, ISO/RTO planning procedures, policy changes and developments

What You Bring

-Demonstrable hands-on experience with one or more power system analysis software packages including ASPEN, TARA -Active PE License -Minimum 2 + years of direct working experience to include transmission planning, expansion, generation and/or large load interconnection related analyses, NERC reliability standards such as TPL/MOD/CIP -Knowledge of other Electricity Markets (such as PJM, MISO, NYISO, ISONE) planning & interconnection practices -Strong organizational, interpersonal (written & verbal) skills, problem solving and analytical skills -Excellent oral and written communications skills in English -Graduate level degree with emphasis on Electric Power Systems -Ability to work in a dynamic team environment -Working knowledge of automation scripts such as Python -In-depth understanding of fundamentals of electric power systems and renewable energy -Minimum 2 + years of hands-on experience with power-system tool such as PSS/E -Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in electric power systems -Knowledge of ERCOT Electricity Market planning & interconnection practices
