Tasks

-Conduct thorough risk assessments for construction projects, identifying potential hazards and implementing appropriate controls to mitigate risks. -Serve as the primary point of contact for injured employees and their supervisors, providing guidance on the claims process and facilitating access to medical treatment and rehabilitation services. -Oversee the company's workmen's compensation program, including the administration of claims, reporting requirements, and coordination with insurance providers. -Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and priorities. -Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to direct reports within the safety department, fostering a high-performance culture and promoting professional development. -Coordinate with external training providers as needed to supplement in-house programs. -Develop and implement strategic safety plans and policies aligned with company goals and industry best practices. -Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure safety performance across projects company wide. -Prepare and present regular safety performance reports to executive leadership and relevant stakeholders. -Stay abreast of regulatory changes and proactively implement necessary adjustments to ensure compliance. -Collaborate with legal counsel and insurance representatives to manage claims disputes, negotiations, and settlements in accordance with company policies and legal requirements. -Lead by example in demonstrating a commitment to safety excellence and adherence to safety protocols. -Establish clear safety expectations for vendors and contractors and monitor their compliance throughout the duration of projects. -Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions based on investigation findings. -Develop strategies to minimize the frequency and severity of workmen's compensation claims through proactive safety measures, training initiatives, and ergonomic improvements. -Evaluate and select vendors and contractors based on their safety performance and adherence to safety standards. -Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including Cal/OSHA standards and requirements. -Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for employees at all levels, including new hire orientation, specialized training for high-risk activities, and ongoing refresher courses. -Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support individual growth and achievement. -Encourage open communication and feedback channels for reporting safety concerns and suggestions for improvement. -Regularly review and update safety policies to reflect changes in regulations, technology, and project requirements. -Maintain accurate records of workmen's compensation claims, expenses, and trends, providing regular reports to executive leadership and relevant stakeholders for analysis and decision-making. -Regularly analyze safety data, trends, and incident reports to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions. -Direct Management of Workers’ Compensation Claims, general liability claims, and insurance-related responsibilities. -Provide guidance on the selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment. -Lead investigations into safety incidents and near misses, conducting thorough root cause analyses to identify underlying factors and prevent recurrence. -Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate safety initiatives into overall business strategies. -Collaborate with project teams to develop site-specific safety plans and ensure their effective implementation. -Promote a culture of safety consciousness and accountability throughout the organization. -Conduct thorough investigations of work-related injuries and illnesses to determine eligibility for compensation and identify opportunities for prevention.

What You Bring

Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis -Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in construction safety management, with a proven track record of success in developing and implementing safety programs. -Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field or equivalent experience. -CPR/First Aid Certification -OSHA 500 Course-preferred -Experience with Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) -Three to five years construction safety experience. -OSHA 30 Certification
