Yard Operative (Scaffolding)

Overview

Load/unload, inspect, and manage scaffolding materials in yard.

Tasks

-May involve occasional overtime or weekend work to meet operational demands. -Inspect returned scaffolding for damage, corrosion, or defects. -Follow company safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times. -Communicate any issues, shortages, or hazards to supervisors promptly. -Prepare and issue scaffold materials for dispatch to job sites according to picking lists or delivery notes. -Sort, stack, and store scaffolding materials in designated areas. -Clean, repair, and tag equipment to maintain quality and safety standards. -Work closely with yard, transport, and site teams to ensure timely delivery and return of materials. -Assist in implementing safe loading/unloading and traffic management procedures. -Report damaged or missing items to the Yard Supervisor. -Load and unload scaffolding components (tubes, boards, fittings, ladders, etc.) safely using manual handling techniques or lifting equipment. -Keep the yard area clean, organized, and free of hazards.

What You Bring

-Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team. -Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks. -Previous experience in a scaffold yard, construction yard, or similar environment preferred. -Forklift or telehandler license (desirable). -Basic understanding of Health & Safety and manual handling procedures. -Driving licence (desirable) -Yard-based role, primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions.
