Tasks

Day to day management of the sub-programme Project Controls Team of Schedule, Risk, Cost, Change & Reporting & Insights which supports the Technical and Engineering Directorate with oversight, collaboration and assurance of the T&E scope. This role reports into the into the Head of Programme Controls for Technical and Engineering/Owners Scope and will be working with the Technical and Engineering Directorate team. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Programme Controls Manager for all aspects of Project Controls activities required to support the Technical and Engineering Directorate. This entails delivering and the continuous improvement of all the Project Controls elements of the Directorate while ensuring we operate and deliver controls within the SZC governance structure, organisation and delivery model. They will ensure Project Controls activities are being carried out in an efficient manor in accordance with reporting and governance calendars and deadlines established on SZC. They will be proactive in their approach to driving innovation which will support Project Controls activities on SZC being ‘Digital by Default’. -Owning and managing the relationship with Nuclear Services (NSCo) -Delivering and accepting the various nuclear safety cases -Owning and managing the overall design and engineering delivery -Accountable for the implementation of an effective lines of defence assurance process for the Project Controls functions. -Establish, implement and maintain Project Controls arrangements, systems, tools, and work instructions for use on the SZC project and the flow down of SZC Project Controls requirements as appropriate. -Discharging the role of Principal Designer under CDM -Accountable for the on-time production and quality of functional month end Performance Reports -Assist in leading, coaching and supporting of senior Project Controls resources. -Responsible for liaising with the supply chain and the assurance of their Project Controls information. -Help ensure SZC is viewed by the Construction Industry as an exemplar in Project Controls through knowledge sharing, networking and delivering presentations to the sector. -Support the Head of Programme Controls for Technical and Engineering in delivering exemplar Project Controls that is referenced by industry bodies and other major programmes as world class. -Implement best practice principles to provide integrated project controls, including Schedule Management, Cost Management, Risk Management, Baseline and Change Management and Reporting & Insights. -Support the functional Project Controls leads in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Integrated Project Controls processes. -Owning and managing the end-to-end configuration and design replication strategy -Support the functional Project Controls Leads with progress reporting including schedule updates, forecast to complete, variance identification and opportunities for improvement. -Ensuring the SZC design in line with UK legal requirements and standards

What You Bring

The candidate should have significant experience of working in a large-scale project environment and they will have experience of working in multiple Project Controls functions and understand how integrated Project Controls management information is achieved. This knowledge and their previous experience on major programmes and projects will enable them to assure and challenge outputs produced by the various project controls functions. They will have experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams and senior leadership to ensure that Project Controls activities are carried out effectively. They should be able to demonstrate their ability to handle multiple Project Controls activities. -Experience in the Nuclear sector. -A track record of working in a senior Project Controls Management position on large and complex infrastructure projects. -User of a range of reporting and analytics software and project controls systems particularly Power BI. -Detailed understanding of earned value analysis. -Excellent presentation, influencing and facilitation skills. -Understanding of various contract types, in particular the NEC suite and FIDIC. -Experience with increasing responsibility showing an ability to manage senior stakeholders. -Degree or equivalent qualification in business analysis, accounting, finance, construction, engineering or project management, or related technical field. -Experience of successfully managing a team in a matrix structure on a project. -Experience of working within multiple Project Controls Functions of: cost control, estimating, scheduling, change management and risk management. -Deliverables focused and an accomplished problem solver, rising to meet any challenge. -Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. -Active membership of AACE, PMI, APM or similar association with association certifications.
