Tasks
-Implement and maintain purchase order systems and approval workflows -Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes -Manage workers' compensation insurance and related reporting -Maintain vendor relationships and negotiate payment terms -Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees across both business lines -Generate accurate and timely customer invoices for both business lines -Ensure strong internal controls are in place and followed -Analyze job profitability and provide detailed cost variance reporting -Coordinate with sales teams on customer billing requirements and payment terms -Prepare monthly job cost reports and margin analysis for management review -Maintain accurate general ledger and ensure compliance with ASPE principles -Coordinate with VP Operations on employee benefit deductions and new hire setup -Manage fixed asset accounting and depreciation calculations -Track labor, materials, and overhead costs by project and product line -Manage billing schedules for homebuilder contracts and custom projects -Process cash receipts and maintain customer account records -Maintain payroll records and handle payroll tax filings -Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local payroll regulations -Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production planning -Handle collections activities and aging report management -Oversee purchasing processes for raw materials and supplies -Process accounts payable and ensure timely payment of invoices -Develop and maintain comprehensive job costing systems for both custom cabinetry and homebuilder projects -Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules -Collaborate with production teams to ensure accurate time and material reporting -Support external review processes and coordinate with CPA firm

What You Bring
This position is based in our manufacturing facility with a combination of office work and interaction with production teams. The role may require occasional overtime during year-end closing periods and busy production seasons. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Operations Controller to join our growing cabinetry manufacturing company. This key position will oversee critical financial and operational functions across our two distinct business lines: custom cabinetry and homebuilder projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, manufacturing industry experience, and the ability to manage multiple accounting and operational responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. -Knowledge of accounts payable and receivable processes -Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration -Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills -Problem-solving mindset with continuous improvement focus -Strong knowledge of job costing principles and manufacturing accounting -Familiarity with project-based accounting and contract billing -Excellent communication and organizational skills -Experience with manufacturing cost accounting and inventory management -3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or construction -Knowledge of construction industry billing practices -Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities -Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting -Detail-oriented with high level of accuracy -Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field -Understanding of internal controls and compliance requirements -Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities -CPA certification or progress toward certification -Experience in the cabinetry, woodworking, or construction industry -Experience with payroll processing and tax compliance
