Environmental Advisor

Advise operational teams on environmental & sustainability compliance, mitigation and improvement.

Tasks

-Maintain awareness of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), PAS 2080 (Carbon Management in Infrastructure), and alignment with Omexom and associated industry sustainability targets. -Ensure on-site compliance with environmental legislation and coach teams in applying controls and mitigations. -Advise the business on best practice in areas of corporate, ethical, and social responsibility, and address any issues arising. -Integrity & Responsibility – Take responsibility for duties and manage them effectively to ensure high-quality results. -Support project teams in investigating environmental incidents and help implement controls to prevent recurrence. -Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and subcontractors on environmental management and sustainability matters. -Support sustainability activities for both project and business. -Assist with providing advice and support to operational teams on environmental & sustainability matters, including advising on latest low or zero-carbon technologies. -Assist with maintaining relationships with regulators, clients, subcontractors, and local stakeholders. -Support and conduct audit and assurance activities, including facilitating external audits by clients and certification bodies. -Provide support to operations and design teams on compliance and project-specific mitigation measures, including pollution control and ecology protection. -Produce internal and external reports as required (e.g. case studies, environmental & sustainability performance).

What You Bring

-Full UK driver’s licence and flexibility to travel. -Internal Auditor qualification desirable. -Educated to degree level in Environmental Science or Environmental Management. -Understanding of the construction operating environment. -Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new IT packages as required. -Self-motivated with the ability to motivate staff at all levels. -Ability to share knowledge and skills with colleagues and contribute to the development of team capabilities. -Ability to establish effective networks internally and externally. -Ability and willingness to work flexibly from home, office, and site-based environments. -Practical experience and knowledge of environmental legislation, ecology mitigation, environmental licences and consent applications, and regulator consultation. -Good knowledge of ISO 14001 (training can be provided if required). -Strong knowledge of environmental management and sustainability issues, including Water Environment, Ecology, Archaeology, and Private Water Supplies. -Effective communication skills (oral and written). -Membership of an Environmental Body (e.g. IES, IEMA) desirable.
