The Role

Overview

Perform structural engineering design and analysis on smaller projects under supervision.

Tasks

-Participate in client and team meetings. -Engages in personal development activities that focus on developing customer intimacy -Performs engineering review and analysis assignments under minimal supervision of an experienced engineer or engineering manager -Perform quality assurance on project deliverables. -Work with individuals at all levels, provide input to reports and other deliverables, execute multiple assignments, meet agreed deadlines, and adjust to changing client demands. -Prepare written documents, reports and presentations for review by an experienced engineer or engineering manager. -Review project plans with senior staff to understand the scope, schedule and assigned work. -Track and accurately report hours spent on projects -Develop understanding of the technical requirements and challenges and provide suggested opportunities of the business to formulate opportunities to enhance effectiveness and efficiency in day-to-day job tasks.

-Understands key performance indicators and their significance to the business and takes action to drive results -Ability to actively listen to the needs of our clients by receiving shared information, determining context and evaluating the information provided -Ability to obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems. -Must actively participate in daily activities -Basic knowledge of latest building codes (IBC, CBC and ASCE 7) and material standards (AISC, ACI, NDS and TMS) -Applies conventional knowledge in structural engineering. -Ability to utilize established rapport with senior members of the team and colleagues -2-4 years of relevant professional experience with Bachelor’s degree or 1-2 years of relevant professional experience with Master’s degree. -Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) certification required. -Must be dependable and consistent -Ability to produce an expected quantity and quality of work. -Ability to gain, retain and illustrate comprehension of learned technical knowledge -Ability to utilize basic personal computer applications including spreadsheets, MS Office applications, email and internet browers. -Familiarity with common structural building systems (gravity and lateral) and materials (steel, concrete, masonry and wood). -Must organize, plan and manage time and tasks effectively utilizing intermediate time management skills -Must understand assigned responsibilities and hold themself accountable for keeping commitments
