Tasks

-Oversee technical project due diligence and design reviews. -Contribute to process improvement initiatives for safe, high-quality project delivery. -Mentor future team members as the HV group grows. -Provide high-level conceptual designs and guide consultants to detailed solutions. -Support commissioning activities and resolve technical issues at operating sites. -Write and review specifications for HV equipment. -Conduct site visits and QA/QC checks as needed. -Support budget, schedule, and technical inputs for development and acquisition projects. -Value engineer HV designs for reliability and cost efficiency. -Develop HV strategies for substations and interconnection facilities across PV, BESS, data centers, and combustion turbine projects. -Develop and implement technical solutions to region-specific requirements. -Assist Development, Project Management, and Commercial Execution teams with budget and schedule inputs. -Coordinate feedback from internal stakeholders and Owner’s Engineering consultants. -Manage engineering consultants and EPC contractors to produce construction drawings and supporting materials. -Collaborate closely with Development, Procurement, and Execution teams. -Develop HV work scopes and technical contract exhibits. -Stay current on HV technology trends and emerging vendor solutions.

What You Bring

-Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while building scalable engineering processes. -Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written correspondence. -Collaborative, adaptable, and able to influence internal teams and consultants effectively. -True subject matter expertise in high-voltage substations and interconnection systems. -Ability to work effectively within a rapidly changing organization. -Proficient with MS Office Suite; experience with Procore or similar platforms preferred. -Broad understanding of plant-level electrical design to inform HV decisions. -Demonstrated collaborative partnerships with peers, management, and vendors. -Strong problem-solving, decisiveness, and workload management skills. -Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. -Bachelor’s degree preferred -Experience managing third-party consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders. -Proactive mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. -10+ years of experience in HV substation and/or transmission line design and/or construction. -Professional Engineering license preferred. -Ability to work in the Copia Office (Salt Lake City, UT, Portland, OR, Washington DC, or Dana Point, CA) a minimum of 3 days per week. -Resourcefulness and polite persistence. -Ability to travel up to 25%. -Highly driven with problem-solving abilities, integrity, and strong work ethic. -Curiosity and genuine passion for high-voltage engineering and clean energy. -10+ years of project management, consulting, or project engineering experience.
