Tasks
-Provide oversight and direction to junior engineering staff -Organize and maintain project files -Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule and project constraints -Review shop drawings and other construction related submittals -Attend meeting with clients and other professionals and organizations -Perform/supervise load ratings on bridges of various type size and complexity -Perform/supervise calculations and analysis for designing bridge and transportation structures using various bridge design software programs -Review calculations and design details developed by others

What You Bring
-10 - 15 years of engineering experience in bridge design -Post-tensioned concrete design experience a plus -Skilled in the use of MicroStation and AutoCAD, experience with OpenBridge Designer a plus -Technical expertise for the layout & design of bridges and related highway structures -Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines. -Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.) in Florida -Knowledge of AASHTO and other pertinent bridge design specifications -Valid driver’s license. -Familiarity with rehabilitation of existing bridges and highway structures -A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR). -Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Master of Engineering preferred, but not required -Extensive experience utilizing FDOT specific processes, manuals, or guidance on bridge projects is required, 10 years minimum
