Assistant Controller, Outsourced Accounting - Nonprofit Industry Clients

Overview

Manage nonprofit client financial reporting, month‑end close, and grant compliance remotely.

Tasks

-Prepare and/or review the initial draft of monthly reporting packages, including KPIs/metrics. -Participate in cross-collaboration with other teams/service lines, as applicable. -Assist in estimating and managing work assignments of accountants to meet client needs and budget constraints. -Maintain and update the client procedure manual to ensure appropriate process documentation. -Review balance sheets for accuracy and facilitate follow-up. -Prepare and finalize month-end close. -Assist in the development of best practices. -Prepare and/or review work papers and schedules to ensure completeness and accuracy. -Manage day-to-day financial reporting accuracy for assigned clients. -Guide the review and approval of account classifications. -Coordinate project tasks to ensure efficient client workflow. -Assist with complex general ledgers, identifying missing transactions and trends to ensure overall accuracy.

Requirements

What You Bring

-Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required. -Strong understanding of accounting principles and month-end close processes. -Experience in public accounting e.g. outsourced accounting or audit preferred. -Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite. -Experience with nonprofit federal grant processing and reporting required. -Ability to project manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. -Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. -CPA certification preferred. -Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on financial reporting and general ledger management. -Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
