The Role

Overview

Design and analyze highway/traffic projects, create plans, conduct field work, and support clients.

Tasks

-Conduct field work in collaboration with project engineers and above. -Establish and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, supervisors, clients, and colleagues. -Research design options and apply code provisions/standards. -Meet schedule, budget, and quality goals set by project managers. -Work with senior engineers and planners, often involving multiple disciplines, to create designs that meet or exceed client needs. -Perform engineering calculations and create cost estimates. -Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques and principles, with the guidance of senior staff, to develop designs, reports, presentation materials, and other elements necessary for project success.

What You Bring

-Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. -Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions. -EIT (Engineer In Training) certification preferred. -Previous internship experience and/or capstone project work pertaining to highway/traffic engineering preferred. -Some experience working with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation and other software packages is preferred. -Previous experience with Traffic analysis software is a plus. -Thrive in a team setting and have a great attitude, strong work ethic, attention to detail and exhibit an eagerness to learn. -Valid driver’s license. -Strong background in the principles of Traffic Engineering and Operations. -Work toward fluency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation and create plans, CADD models, etc. -Familiarity with the MUTCD and other transportation publications. -Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required. -Effective time management and organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task.
