Tasks

-Patient Specimen Management -Introduce and prepare biological specimens for laboratory processing to ensure accuracy. -Blood Sample Handling -Ensure all samples are maintained in the appropriate environment during sample handling, processing, and storage to preserve their biological viability. -Verify that patient demographic information matches the submitted test requisition form. -Sample Preparation -Resolve and document any issues with problem specimens. -Open specimens and pour them into secondary containers for further analysis and testing. -Pack and ship specimens to appropriate testing facilities when needed. -Operate automated instrumentation under supervision if necessary. -Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples. -Specimen Processing -Sample Management -Comply with applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures. -Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste appropriately. -Specimen Handling -Perform data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes. -Specimen Storage -Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas. -Receive inbound shipments and track samples prior to registration. -Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate results. -Biological Sample Handling

What You Bring

-Must be detail-oriented, efficient, and able to work independently -High School Diploma or GED completion -At least 1 year of experience in sample management or specimen processing, preferably in a clinical or hospital setting
