Tasks

-Support WBE/MBE/DBE participation efforts and maintain estimating best practices. -Review bid documents to define project scope and requirements. -Perform detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment. -Attend pre-bid meetings and manage post-award buy-out processes. -Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners. -Stay current with estimating tools and technology, including HCSS HeavyBid and other software. -Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes. -Develop accurate, competitive pricing and ensure timely bid submission.

What You Bring

-Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred). -Analytical problem-solver who enjoys turning data into decisions. -Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat; AGTEK and Oracle P6 experience a plus. -Self-motivated, organized, and accountable for deadlines and results. -Detail-oriented and committed to accuracy in every estimate. -Strong understanding of unit price estimating and production-driven costs. -Think like a builder-anticipating challenges and finding practical solutions. -Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills. -Calm and adaptable when priorities shift or pressure rises. -3+ years of estimating experience in heavy highway or civil construction. -Strong communication and collaboration skills with a team-first mindset. -Strong communicator who builds trust with teammates, clients, and partners. -Familiarity with MoDOT and other DOT/municipal standards (required). -Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid or similar estimating software. -Proven success bidding self-performed work — including concrete, earthwork, utilities, and structures. -Aligned with KCI GRiT values.
