Embedded in Shell’s site-based teams working under Shell PMT direction, while reporting to Worley’s Senior Portfolio Director for the Scotford portfolio.
Maintain strong communication across Shell’s operations, maintenance, inspection, HSSE, and project management teams.
Participate in risk reviews, HAZOPs/HAZIDs, constructability reviews, and readiness assessments.
Ensure all engineering and project documentation meets Shell’s internal requirements for safety, operability, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
Track project deliverables and engineering progress, ensuring timely completion of milestones.
Steward the management of change (MOC) process, ensuring technical modifications are fully assessed, documented, and approved.
Ensure engineering decisions support safe execution, operability, and maintainability of assets.
Ensure engineering deliverables meet Shell and Worley specifications, industry codes/standards, and regulatory requirements.
Support cost awareness by identifying scope growth, potential risks, and opportunities for optimization.
Participate in construction readiness reviews, installation sequencing, pre-commissioning activities, and turnover planning.
Ensure efficient flow of information between Shell site teams and Worley & Other EP engineering groups to maintain technical alignment.
Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Support development of project scopes of work, engineering estimates, design packages, and construction work packages (CWPs).
Coordinate closely with project controls to support schedule development, progress measurement, and forecasting.
Identify and address quality issues early; engage QA/QC resources when required.
Provide daily engineering support to Shell site teams, construction contractors, and maintenance personnel.
Coordinate with EP Contractors /EP houses, multi-discipline engineering activities (mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation, process, etc.) to ensure alignment with project scope, schedule, and technical requirements.
Provide technical guidance and leadership to junior and intermediate engineers as required.
Facilitate timely resolution of field queries (RFIs, SQs, TQs).
Perform field checks, site verifications, and constructability reviews; identify potential issues early and recommend solutions.
Represent Worley professionally while fully integrating into Shell’s site team environment.
Champion Shell and Worley HSSE expectations and ensure engineering and construction activities follow site safety practices and safe work procedures.
Provide on-site project engineering leadership across the full life cycle of brownfield and sustaining capital projects (concept development through commissioning and close-out).
Serve as the primary on-site engineering interface between Shell asset teams, Worley & Other EP engineering offices, construction contractors, and project stakeholders.
Lead clarification and resolution of technical issues arising during detailed engineering, construction, or commissioning.

Strong experience working on active operating facilities with brownfield constraints.
Full-time presence at Shell Scotford (Fort Saskatchewan). 3 Days at Scotford Wed/Thurs/Friday and other 2 days work from home or Worley office
Familiarity with project controls (cost, schedule, change management).
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, or Instrumentation preferred).
Highly effective communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience supporting both engineering and construction phases, including field verification, constructability reviews, and commissioning support.
Extensive experience in project engineering within oil & gas, petrochemical, heavy industrial, or refinery environments.
Eligibility for APEGA registration (P.Eng. required or immediately eligible).
Occasional travel to Calgary or Edmonton engineering offices may be required.
Fast-paced environment requiring daily interaction with operations, construction, and multiple engineering disciplines.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate multi-discipline engineering teams and resolve technical issues in the field.
