The Role

Overview

Patrol highways, respond to emergencies, manage traffic, and perform maintenance.

Tasks

-Respond to emergency situations such as spills, accidents, inclement weather and implement an emergency plan -Call out and manage winter operations during winter events -Provide traffic control at accident scenes, including set up and take down of traffic control signs, as required -Promote, lead, and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees, sub-contractors, and consultants in compliance with Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies and ensure contractual HSE obligation for the staff and public are met -Communicate with authorities on site – police, fire etc. and liaise with MTO central dispatch to ensure adequate resources are available to maintain public safety on the highways during inclement weather and road conditions -Maintain accurate documentation, including diary, daily electronic timesheets, and various paperwork, etc. -Operate a variety of equipment, including Crash Truck -Respond to public complaints -Perform repairs, maintenance operations and asset inspections as required -Conduct daily circle checks on vehicles; clean and maintain vehicles -Assist in the identification of deficiencies, through inspection patrols and create deficiency lists for the Foreperson

What You Bring

-Class DZ license and clean driver's abstract/CVOR -Basic computer skills to navigate weather, equipment data, and MTO work sites -Mechanically inclined to operate small tools and heavy equipment -Road maintenance experience and knowledge of OTM book 7 -Willingness to remain on call and work assigned day, night and weekend shifts
