Tasks

-Perform failure root cause analysis on systems and assemblies -Create white-page designs that will be the foundation of Form Energy’s Gen 2 product designs -Drive verification testing of your design work -Work with consulting companies, vendors, manufacturing engineers, and technical operations to transition designs from the prototype stage to high volume production -Perform bench testing, hand calculations, and FEA to inform specs and future design direction -Release designs consistent with company and team best practices (drawings, tolerance analysis, etc) -Perform hands-on prototyping of designs and collaborate with broader teams to build integrated prototypes

What You Bring

-Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD), specifically SolidWorks modeling and drafting using GD&T (ASME Y14.5) -Proficient with prototyping techniques and working in a machine shop environment -Familiarity with mechanical verification testing -Proficient in component design for mass manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), especially sheet metal, stampings, weldments and extruded components -Familiarity with electro-mechanical systems, power electronics, or batteries is a plus -Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Bachelor's with 10+ years, or Master's with 8+ industry experience in mechanical design -Travel up to 20% to other Form Energy offices or vendor sites -Experience leading design work for complex mechanical systems and structural design, using FEA for structural analysis
