The Role

Overview

Design and coordinate plant piping systems using Revit for large-scale projects.

Tasks

-Reviews design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors of a moderate degree of complexity and prepares comments and recommendations. Assists in preparation of forecasts, quantity take-offs and change orders. -Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction. -Directly performs the work of designers and drafters of a design group for a business line technology. This work includes the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 3-D Design models and 2-D construction drawings. -Reviewing and checking designs, drawings, and data by other engineers or by suppliers -System layout design, including concept sketches and detailed layouts -Coordinates or makes jobsite visits, as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents. -Reviews or defines engineering scope changes, as required, for project management. -Prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort. -Preparation or review of material quantity estimates -Endorses or prepares reports of work progress, as required, for project and discipline use. -Participates in one or more of the following: -Preparation or review of engineering studies and reports

What You Bring

-Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline’s design responsibilities. -A recognized diploma / course in an engineering or scientific discipline, with extensive experience in piping layout design and drafting. -Application of computer aided engineering (CAE) / computer aided design (CAD) tools to engineering problems. -Understands roles played by other disciplines on the project. Contacts counterpart in other disciplines, supplier/client representatives and project field personnel when directed, to either gather or give information. -Basic skill in oral and written communication. -Specialized courses in drafting, design and engineering practices, and CAD, OR -Knowledge of discipline Design Guides, mathematical formulae and design calculations used in the discipline. -Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria and codes relevant to the discipline. -Knowledge of 3D/2D tools, as applicable to the specific discipline work. Working experience on Revit Piping is mandatory. -Uses engineering computer aided design/computer aided engineering in REVIT tool. -Experience Level: Minimum of 14+ years of working as Piping Designer. Experience of working on Semiconductor, Data Center or Power projects will be an additional advantage. -Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Requires a basic knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, 2-D and 3-D CAD, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline. -Technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and construction methods and materials, and application of computer aided design (CAD) tools to engineering design.
