Overview
Dispatch and restore AEP distribution system, managing crews and outages

Tasks
-Promote and enforce the Company's Safety and Health programs. -Develop and direct radial switching on distribution feeders external to the substation for both planned and emergency conditions. -Dispatch service personnel to respond to outage and emergency situations. -Maintain an accurate log of events and transactions relative to the operation of the distribution system. Dispatching responsibilities and job scope, when prepared by the business unit, are described separately on an addendum to this position description. -Effectively operate company communication equipment. -Develop and direct switching activities on distribution station/sub-transmission equipment for both planned and emergency conditions. -Authorize the energizing and restoration of distribution facilities. -Utilize SCADA systems to monitor, analyze and operate distribution equipment on the distribution system in a safe and reliable manner. -Maintain accurate outage records. -Prepare switching orders listing the steps and safety tagging to be carried out for removing equipment from service for maintenance, repair or construction, ensuring the safety of the public, Company equipment, Company and contract personnel. -Maintain accurate records of abnormal and defective equipment for distribution facilities. -Develop and direct loop switching and load transfers on distribution equipment for both planned and emergency conditions. -Track crew locations and ongoing work on the distribution system.

What You Bring
-Bachelor’s degree in any field, OR associate’s degree in electrical or electronic technology, OR High School Diploma with 2 years of experience with technical customer support and service, including successful multi-tasking and handling of multiple programs/screens -Be knowledgeable and adhere to written company and department policy and procedures. -Successful completion of the System Operator/Power Dispatching Selection System (SOPD) test is required for this position. A review of Employment Testing Information, Test-Taking Tips, and the SOPD Practice Tests may be helpful. -Minimum 2 years of experience as a Distribution Dispatcher. Successfully complete training and pass the examination for a Distribution Dispatcher Sr.
