The Role

Overview

Perform mechanical stress analysis for CANDU nuclear power stations and SMRs.

Tasks

-Conduct technical assessments and emergent troubleshooting/engineering to support refurbishment projects and operating unit (capital) projects. -Perform Mechanical engineering analysis for CANDU nuclear power stations and new builds including Small Modular Reactors. -Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary projects. -Stay current with developments within their field of expertise. -Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution. -Interface with construction/procurement partners and utility stakeholders, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.

What You Bring

-Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards including but not limited to CSA N285, ASME Section III, Section VIII and B31.1. ASME Section III Appendix XXIII qualification is considered an asset. -A minimum 8 years of relevant experience is required -Knowledge of design and analysis reactor component including Class 1 component qualification -Candidates are expected to have or to pursue attainment of the P.Eng. designation. -Experience with FEA software such as ANSYS and ABAQUS. -Experience in Classical Stress Calculation -Experience in the use of piping software such as CAESAR II, AutoPipe, PipeStress -Good time management skills and demonstrated capability to interface effectively with and gain the trust of station customers. -A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field is required, A Master’s degree is required.
