We are looking to hire a skilled Orbital/Combination Welder with expertise in High Purity Pipe to join our Mechanical team for ongoing work at Naval Station Norfolk, VA. All work is to be performed on the military base and is paid the required Davis-Bacon prevailing wage, specific to the Naval Station Norfolk military base. Our Orbital/Combination Welder will be responsible for using hand-welding, and flame cutting to weld or join metal components. This position will require the ability to pass groove-weld qualification tests in all positions for multiple materials and processes using both Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) as well as Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) as necessary. All work is completed on an active construction site, and in accordance with relevant codes. Work involves technical application of Orbital welding principles with expertise in High Purity Pipe. This is all to be done using the appropriate equipment and implementing the required safety practices in support of RQ's Mission, Vision, and Values. -Candidates must be able to pass 6G GTAW & SMAW test before being hired. 2 inch High Purity Orbital Weld. -A high school diploma or GED is the preferred minimum formal education for this position. Should be supplemented by completion of a Union, private (in-house), military, or trade school apprenticeship program that includes theory and on-the-job -Experience working with High Purity Pipe. -Lockout/Tagout training -CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30-hour Certifications required (training can be provided) -Trenching and shoring training -Forklift/Manlift training and certificate -Power actuated tools training and certificate -Confined space training -Specific training or certificates in the following preferred, training can be provided:Trenching and shoring trainingFall protection Confined space trainingForklift/Manlift training and certificatePower actuated tools training and certificateLockout/Tagout trainingScissor lift/boom lift certificateEM-385 -Scissor lift/boom lift certificate -5 to 8 years(or equivalent) field or trade work experience as an Orbital and/or Combination Welder in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting is required; government, military, or large commercial construction experience.
