Overview
Develop and sustain drive system components for single-axis solar trackers.

Tasks
-Guide the investigation and resolution of service anomalies and implement lessons learned into future products. -Drive the development and sustaining engineering activities for the drive system components (electric motors and mechanical transmissions) of single axis solar trackers. -Manage the detailed design and qualification activities performed by the suppliers and by Nextracker. -Develop performance specifications and interface drawings for electric motors, gear motors, mechanical transmissions with slew gears, planetary gears etc. -Work with other engineering teams to develop a DFMEA for each component and for the system. -Work closely with Supply Chain organization through the development cycle to ensure that all performance goals and requirements are met and to bring the components into mass production. -Create and implement test plans to validate designs and demonstrate functional and performance goals with a focus on safety and reliability. -Perform system architecture design, including functional block diagrams and interface definitions. -Communicate with the product managers and functional managers to understand product vision, technical and resource constraints.

What You Bring
-Mandarin is a plus -5+ years’ experience in design and testing of electric motors and/or gears. -Experience with gear and bearing design. -Experience developing test specifications and test procedures. -Experience performing trade studies and lifecycle cost analysis. -Ability to accommodate early morning and late night meetings -BS/MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. -Ability to travel to Asia and possibly other locations 5-10 times per year -Experience developing performance specifications and interface drawings. -Experience with the full product lifecycle, from requirement definition to design, production, and sustaining engineering. -Experience with DFMEA, root cause analysis, investigation of service anomalies. -Strong eye toward safety, constructability, and system maintenance. -Experience with motor controllers.
