The Role

Overview

Estimate highway maintenance projects, produce cost sheets, mentor juniors, support change team.

Tasks

-Record assumptions and identify risks and opportunities including supporting developing the risk evaluation from a pricing/budgetary point of view. -Mentor and support more junior members of the team. -Review technical reports, drawings and specifications to prepare accurate costing sheets for materials, labour and equipment -Oversee and/or interrogate design options and ‘value’ solutions, and if appropriate, -Undertake estimates in accordance with the companies’ policies and procedures. -Maintain and update library of rates on CANDY estimating software. -Liaise with members of the Change team, wider Connect Plus Services team, other BB -Translate measurement from drawings & specifications and prepare Bills of Quantities & Schedules of Rates.

What You Bring

-Previous experience in Estimating of Heavy Civil Engineering Projects Commercial or -A valid CSCS card. -Experienced estimating background using Candy Estimating Software (desirable). -Infrastructure Main Contractor background ideally within the Highways term-maintenance market. -Proficient in the use of excel (Microsoft Office programmes i.e. Word, Outlook) and similar software. -Working knowledge of best practice solutions and optimisation of innovative ideas and an understanding of the principles of Lean Construction and cost planning within a long-term highway’s maintenance setting is desirable. -Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, coupled with an ability to -An understanding of BIM and how to read and assemble BIM models and produce -Good working knowledge of pricing and quantification methods is required. -Chartered by relevant industry recognised chartership e.g., ICE, CICES, RICS, CIOB Etc
