Overview
Assist architects with design, drawings, research, and project support for transportation facilities.

Tasks
-Perform basic professional architectural work relating to conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, building, infrastructure, and transportation channels to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits. -With minimal supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, environmental data, historical use, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction. -Work collaboratively with other architects, engineers, professionals, and building authorities on Federal, State, regional, local, and privately funded building and development projects. -Assist with the input of building technologies, concepts, modeling techniques, design requirements, and operating strategies to account for the safety and functionality of occupants and end-users, and incorporating future-ready solutions with architectural design standards. -Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work. -A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations. -Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. -Assist with preparing complete and accurate visualizations using software, technical drawings, software, and 2D/3D illustrations. -Assist technical staff and project managers by offering input and analysis with design concepts, construction, risk mitigation and improvement activities. -Assist with verifying the characteristics of a site and providing technical assistance on securing structural soundness from loads and pressures caused by environmental or human influence. -Under minimal supervision, assist with the preparation of detailed drawings showing both the external and internal appearance and structure of building projects. -Complete training on assigned tasks.

What You Bring
-Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, REVIT, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite). -Detailed experience related in architectural building design and rehabilitation with construction exposure a plus -Familiarity with process and concepts for sustainability, green building design, and reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances/greenhouse gas. -Familiarity with building planning, drawing standards, design, and construction management; including restorative and new design. -1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience in the learned discipline. -Experience within the transportation industry is also a plus -Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience. -Experience in transportation facility segments including rail, bus, aviation and marine; facility building types including administration buildings, tolling structures, parking structures, bus and rail stations including associated maintenance facilities, ancillary buildings, ventilation building, etc. -Resiliency related studies and design -Competent creative, visualization, and technical drawing skills. -Highly familiar with relevant building and construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. -Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. -Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, or closely related discipline. -Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, technology, math principles, graphics, spreadsheets, and tools. -Prior design experience. -Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives. -Knowledge of architectural principles, practices, process, and the application to project work-related issues. -Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. -Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. -Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
