Overview

Install, test, and commission water, storm, and sanitary pipe systems up to 48" diameter.

Key Responsibilities

• trench excavation

Tasks

-Hand excavation, digging of trenches, backfilling, raking, tamping, and compacting soil -Assembly of manholes, catch basins and drainage structures -Assist Foreman, Engineers, and/or Superintendent in the layout of various piping systems -Assemble and install shoring and trench boxes in excavation as required -Installation of ductile iron, PVC, HDPE, and other buried piping systems up to and sometimes exceeding 48” in diameter -Cut and bevel pipe ends -Monitor and guide excavation by equipment operator -Installation of push-on and mechanically restrained joint piping (i.e. Megalug) -Installation, testing and commissioning of water, storm and sanitary pipe and underground raceway

What You Bring

-Prepared to regularly encounter moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and a variety of outside weather conditions -Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus -Able to climb temporary or permanent stairs, and ladders -Ability to stand for extended periods of time, and safely maneuver around the nearby presence of various construction equipment and vehicles, on an active construction site -High School or Vocational and or relevant work experience -Able to bend, squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, balance and stoop, reach on a regular basis -Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced environment -Minimum of 1-3+ years of experience within the construction industry -Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
