The Role

Overview

Perform general HVAC maintenance, repairs, and preventative tasks on military base facilities.

Tasks

-Lifting and adjusting heavy objects, contact with sharp, hot and/or very cold supplies and equipment -PRACTICES WORKPLACE SAFETY in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in repair of HVAC equipment -Perform general cleaning of buildings or properties -Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirement- use rules, calipers, micrometers, or other measuring instruments -Order parts, supplies, and equipment -including debris removal -Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists -Use hand tools, measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices such as meters -Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work -Maintain specialized HVAC equipment and machinery found in various commercial buildings -Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments -Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts -Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts -Repair or replace defective equipment parts -Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions -Prioritizes tasks to ensure completion in a timely manner -Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery -Including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) -Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate

What You Bring

-Valid driver's license compliant with REAL ID Act or are you willing and able to obtain one -Regular, dependable attendance -EPA Universal Refrigeration License -Adaptable and flexible in work situations -U. S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations -High school diploma or equivalent -Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted -Climbing ladders and entering confined spaces -Work both indoors and outdoors in various temperatures (some extreme) and weather conditions -2+ years related experience and/or formal vocational/technical training in a variety of building and/or utility trades -Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in HVAC in a commercial/industrial setting -Use of hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and walking -Each complete year of accredited college education in a related field may be substituted for the equivalent number of years of required experience -Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping -Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
