The Role

Overview

Assist in installing structured cabling, pathways, and overhead cabling under supervision.

Tasks

-Assists with the installation and labeling at the work area outlet location -Assists in the installation of primary and secondary cable raceway systems -Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M employment policies and procedures including standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on the Company -Assists with the testing of copper cable -Assists with the installation of horizontal and backbone cabling -Assists with high count copper terminations -Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M and customer safety policies and procedures -Working 40 plus hours/week, scheduled in 8 to 10 hour shifts. Working overtime as needed. -Responds to emergency service requests outside of regular duty hours when called upon -Safeguards and maintains Tri-M equipment, material, tools and vehicles -Assists with the installation and termination of work area outlets

-Gains exposure to telecommunication drawings and installation specifications -Ability and willingness to travel regionally/nationally to jobsites -Squatting and sitting 1 to 2 hours/day -Repetitive use of hands includes: continuous grasping up to 50 lbs.; frequent pushing and pulling of 50 to 75 lbs.; and fine motor coordination for receptacle installation and wire terminations -Must have reliable personal transportation to and from the assigned work location/office -Must purchase Company required personal tools (see attached list) and maintain in good condition -Environmental factors include working in: temperature extremes of 0°F to 100°F; up to 8 hours inside or outside; atmospheric exposure to dust, gases, fumes, odors; and poor ventilation in confined spaces -Good mechanical aptitude and proficiency with common hand tools -Repetitive use of feet is required for operating conduit benders and vertical climbing -Must maintain a valid drivers license and good driving record -Ability to lift from floor to above shoulder -Vision adequate for blueprint reading and color coding for wire identification -Completes appropriate level of skill development and on-the-job training -Basic math and measurement skills -Lifting weights of 0 to 100 lbs. at the following frequencies: continuous lifting of 10 to 35 lbs.; frequent lifting of 35 to 50 lbs.; occasional lifting of 50 to 100 lbs.; sizes & shapes of objects vary from concrete blocks to cylinders to 20' lengths of conduit; average carry requirements, 60 lbs. for 40' -Personal protective equipment includes use of hardhat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and gloves. Equipment on an "as needed" basis may include lanyards, safety harness, face mask, respirator, hearing protection and Nomex suit -Kneeling, lifting, reaching above shoulders, and bending (90°) 4 to 5 hours/day -Balance adequate for continuous climbing of ladders, scaffolds, and lifts -Twisting (180°) and walking 2 to 3 hours/day -Standing and climbing 4 to 6 hours/day -Basic personal computing skills and familiarity with Microsoft office programs to include Outlook, Excel and Word. -Ability to use basic power tools (e.g. drills, circular saws, band saws, etc.) -High school diploma or equivalent
